Grace
You Are Not Too Far Gone
Whatever you have done, wherever you have been, however long it has been, you are not beyond the reach of God’s mercy. The Bible is full of people who thought they were: a murderer, a betrayer, a woman caught in the act, a thief dying on a cross. Jesus met every one of them with grace. There is no sin bigger than his love, and no one he turns away.
No one is beyond his reach
The people Jesus welcomed were not the respectable ones. They were the ones everyone else had written off. A thief crucified beside him asked to be remembered, and within a breath Jesus promised him paradise. Paul, who had hunted Christians down, later called himself the chief of sinners, and became the man who wrote that nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Grace is not for people who have it together. It is for people who know they do not. That includes you, exactly as you are, right now.
Frequently asked questions
- Can God forgive anything?
- Christians believe God's mercy in Christ reaches every sin, no matter how great. The Bible shows Jesus forgiving murderers, betrayers, and a thief on a cross. There is no wrong so big that grace cannot cover it for those who come to him.
- Am I too broken for God?
- No. Grace is not for people who have it together, but for people who know they do not. Jesus said he came to seek and save the lost, and that he will never cast out anyone who comes to him (John 6:37).
- What if I have done something unforgivable?
- Christians hold that no sin puts you beyond God's forgiveness if you turn to him. The people Jesus welcomed most were the ones everyone else had written off. You can bring even that to him honestly.
Come as you are
You do not have to fix yourself first, or earn your way back. Grace is a gift, given freely to people who know they need it. Him that cometh to me, Jesus said, I will in no wise cast out. That includes you.
