Am I beyond forgiveness?

You are not beyond forgiveness. Whatever shame has been whispering, whatever you have done or been part of, it has not put you outside the reach of God's mercy. The people Jesus forgave were not the mildly imperfect. They were the ones everyone, including themselves, had written off.

There is a specific thing, maybe you cannot even say it out loud, that sits in you like a stone. You have decided, quietly, that it is the one thing God could never forgive, that people like you are simply beyond the line. So you keep him at arm's length, bracing for the rejection you are sure you deserve.

Where are you right now?

What is true

Look at who Jesus welcomed. A woman caught in adultery, dragged out to be condemned, and he sent her accusers away and did not condemn her. A dying criminal, guilty by his own admission, promised paradise that same day. Paul, who had hunted Christians to their deaths, made the greatest apostle. If these are beyond forgiveness, no one has ever been forgiven. The stone you carry is not bigger than the cross.

One small step

Your one small step: name the thing to God, plainly, the thing you think is unforgivable, and then let him answer with mercy instead of finishing the sentence for him with shame.

If you want to pray

God, I have carried this as the one thing you could never forgive. If the cross is bigger than my worst, then forgive me, and let me finally set this stone down. Amen.

Honest questions

Is there anything God cannot forgive?
The people Jesus forgave included an adulteress, a condemned criminal, and a persecutor of the church. Scripture presents no sin as beyond his mercy for the one who turns to him.
What if I feel too ashamed to even ask?
Shame lies about your worth and God's willingness. You do not have to feel worthy to ask; you only have to ask. Mercy meets shame, not merit.
How do I know I am forgiven and not just hoping?
Forgiveness rests on what Jesus did, not on how you feel afterward. Scripture says that when we confess, he is faithful and just to forgive. You can trust his word over your shame.

You do not have to decide anything today. You can read a little, close the page, and come back tomorrow, or never. Nobody here is keeping score, and you owe no one an answer. When you are ready, and only then, the gentlest place to meet Jesus is in his own words, watching how he treats the tired, the ashamed, and the ones everybody else gave up on.
