We use Macauliffe rather than the modern Sant Singh Khalsa translation, whose redistribution licensing is not clearly established. Ang (page) numbers cite the fixed standard pagination of the printed Sri Guru Granth Sahib; a few well-known lines from Guru Nanak’s hymns are cited to Macauliffe’s volume rather than to a specific Ang. Obvious scanning artefacts were corrected against Macauliffe’s printed wording; passages are reproduced in context.
How this connects to Jesus
Guru Nanak taught that the practice of truth is higher than all else, and that we should call everyone exalted and let no one appear low. Sikhi joins this to seva, selfless service. Jesus lived exactly this, taking a towel to wash his followers’ feet and teaching that whoever would be great must be the servant of all (Mark 10:43-44). A shared conviction that a truthful life is one that serves and lifts up the lowly.
