A question Jesus asked
Why do you call me Lord and not do what I say?
What Jesus was really asking
Jesus asks, Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Then He tells of two houses, one on rock and one on sand, and the difference is not hearing His words but doing them. The question exposes the gap between what we profess and how we live.
How the question still finds us
It is possible to admire Jesus, sing about Him, defend Him online, and quietly ignore almost everything He asked us to do. He names the gap, not to crush us but to invite integrity: a life where the words we say about Him and the way we actually live begin to match. He is worth not just calling Lord, but following.
Sit with it
Where is the widest gap between what you say you believe about Jesus and how you actually live?
He is still asking
Jesus is not only someone people debate. He is someone who asks, and waits for your answer. You can answer Him now.
