How to Seek God

To seek God is to make knowing Him the aim of your life, and He promises that those who seek Him truly will find Him. It is the best pursuit a heart can have.

  1. Seek Him with your whole heart

God is found not by casual curiosity but by wholehearted desire. Set your heart to seek Him above all.

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”Jeremiah 29:13, King James Version

  2. Seek Him first

Put God at the center rather than the edges of your life. When He is first, everything else finds its proper place.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.”Matthew 6:33, King James Version

  3. Seek Him in His Word and in prayer

God has told us where He may be found: in Scripture and in prayer. Go to those wells daily.

“Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face evermore.”Psalm 105:4, King James Version

  4. Seek Him early and often

Make seeking God a first thing, not a last resort. A morning turned toward Him shapes the whole day.

“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee.”Psalm 63:1, King James Version

  5. Keep seeking, and trust the promise

Seeking God is a lifelong joy, not a single event. Keep asking, seeking, knocking, and trust that He rewards it.

“He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”Hebrews 11:6, King James Version

The One who makes this possible: Jesus

The good news is that even as you seek God, He is seeking you. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost, so your search for Him is really a response to His search for you. Seek God, and you will find that in Christ He has already come near, arms open.

Take the next step with company. You can gather the daily bread for today, spend a few minutes in worship, or bring it all to God in prayer.
