How to Read the Bible (especially if you're new)
The Bible can feel overwhelming to open. Here's a simple way to start reading it and actually understand it.
The Bible is not one book but a library, telling one story that leads to Jesus. You don't have to start at page one. Start where the story comes alive.
Start with the Gospel of John
It was written so you would come to know Jesus. It's the best doorway in.
Read a little, often
A few verses a day, consistently, beats a marathon once in a while.
Ask what it shows about God
As you read, ask: what does this reveal about God, and about me?
Pray as you go
Ask God to help you understand. The Bible is meant to be read with Him, not just about Him.
Don't read alone
Ask questions, talk it over with others, and let Simon help explain what you wonder about.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
