Jericho

Six circuits in silence. Then the shout. Endurance and timing. For six circuits, keep the silence: do not touch the earth. The meter fills only while your finger is still; a tap breaks the silence and that circuit begins again. On the seventh, shout: tap as fast as you can inside the window and the wall comes down block by block. Together mode gives a room one big three, two, one so everyone shouts at once.

How to play

  1. Begin the march. The first circuit's silence meter starts to fill on its own.
  2. Keep your finger off the earth. Any tap breaks the silence, counts against you, and restarts that circuit.
  3. Six circuits of silence, each with a line from the story, while the wall stands and the city laughs.
  4. On the seventh, the screen says shout. Tap as fast as you can inside the window; twenty-four shouts bring the wall down block by block.
  5. Playing with a room? Turn on Together and a big countdown lets everyone shout at the same moment.
  6. Read the truth over the fallen wall, or over the wall that stood, and march again.

The Scripture it stands on

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

Joshua 6:20, King James Version

What it forms in you

Obedience before results. Six days of nothing were the whole battle; the shout only worked because of the silence. It teaches the body to wait when waiting feels like losing.

Who it is for

Restless people, groups who want to shout together, and anyone in a season where nothing seems to be happening.

A reflection

Most of faith looks like walking in silence while the city laughs. What wall are you circling, and are you on the third day or the sixth?

Questions people ask

Why does tapping restart the circuit?

Because the silence is the game. Israel marched six days without a word; the game asks the same of your finger.

What if the wall does not fall?

You shouted fewer than the wall needed. The circuits were not wasted; walk it again with the six days behind you.

How does Together mode work?

A large three, two, one appears before the seventh circuit so a whole room shouts as one.
