What to expect at an Easter service

Easter Sunday is bright and joyful. There is glad singing, flowers, the good news announced that Jesus is risen, a hopeful message, and prayer. Many people who rarely go to church come at Easter, so you will be in good company, and no one will expect you to know when to stand or what to say. You can simply come and share the joy.

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
Matthew 28:6 · King James Version

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
John 11:25 · King James Version

Why Easter is hope

Christians believe the resurrection is not a lovely idea but a real event: that death itself was broken open, and that because Jesus lives, there is hope beyond every grave. Whatever you are grieving or fearing, Easter says the last word is life.

Risen Lord, You broke open the tomb and turned mourning into morning. Where I have lost hope, raise it again. Meet me in my grief and my fear, and let me hear the words, He is risen. Amen.
