Today’s Bread: 2 Corinthians 9:7

2 Corinthians 9:7

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:7 · King James Version (public domain)

Today’s reflection

Giving was never meant to be squeezed out of us by pressure or guilt. God delights in a heart that gives freely, gladly, because it has already been filled. When we know how much we have received in Christ, generosity stops feeling like loss and starts feeling like overflow. Jesus gave Himself completely, holding nothing back for our sake, and that grace loosens our grip on what we hold. Decide in your heart, then give with joy, trusting the God who gladly gave you His Son.

Pray this today

Father, as I carry gratitude today, let this word from 2 Corinthians 9:7 be more than ink on a page. Make it true in me. Quiet what is anxious, steady what is shaking, and draw me nearer to Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
