Today’s Bread: 2 Corinthians 4:16

2 Corinthians 4:16

“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

2 Corinthians 4:16 · King James Version (public domain)

Today’s reflection

Though our bodies wear down and hardship takes its toll, Paul refuses to lose heart, because God is renewing his inner life day by day. The struggles we can see are temporary, but the work Christ is doing within us is eternal. Your outward troubles are not the true measure of your life. Even as strength fades, the Spirit is making you new. When you feel worn thin, lift your eyes past the visible. The Savior who is renewing you now is preparing a glory that far outweighs every present affliction.

Pray this today

Father, as I carry suffering today, let this word from 2 Corinthians 4:16 be more than ink on a page. Make it true in me. Quiet what is anxious, steady what is shaking, and draw me nearer to Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
