Wherever Jesus went, the sick came, and he healed them with compassion. He touched a leper and cleansed him. He told a paralytic to rise and walk. He said to a woman ill for years, thy faith hath made thee whole. He gave blind Bartimaeus his sight. Each healing below is quoted from the King James Version and cited. His power always served his mercy.
The Gospels record Jesus healing more people than can be counted, one by one and in crowds. These are a few, in his own words, with the setting of each.
He healed not from a distance but with a touch, restoring both the man's body and his place among people.
At Peter's house, he took his mother-in-law by the hand, and the fever left her at once, and she rose to serve.
She touched his garment in a crowd, hoping to go unnoticed. He stopped, sought her out, and blessed her by name as daughter.
Lowered through a roof by his friends, the man first heard his sins forgiven, then was told to get up and walk, and he did.
Bartimaeus cried out over the crowd's rebukes. Jesus called him, asked what he wanted, and restored his sight at once.
Jesus' healings were signs, previews of the world he is bringing, where no one is sick and nothing is broken. They were also simple mercy: he saw suffering and could not pass it by. The same compassion is turned toward you.
