What Does the Bible Say About The Church?

The Bible describes the church not as a building but as the people of God, the body of Christ, called to gather, worship, love one another, and carry the gospel to the world. It urges believers not to forsake meeting together, because we are made to belong and to grow within a family of faith, with Christ himself as the head.

The church is the family God places us in, where we worship, learn, serve, and are cared for. We are not meant to follow Jesus alone; Scripture assumes believers gathered, sharing life and faith together.

No church is perfect, because it is full of people like us who are still being changed. But belonging to a local body of believers is one of God's chief means of helping us grow, and it is where the world sees his love lived out.

The deepest answer is Jesus

Jesus loves the church and gave himself for it, and he promises to be present wherever his people gather in his name.
