What Does the Bible Say About Ambition?

The Bible distinguishes between selfish ambition, which it warns leads to envy and every evil work, and a holy ambition to please God and serve others. It calls us to work heartily, to aim high in loving and serving, but to do nothing from vain conceit, keeping God's glory and our neighbour's good as the goal.
