The picture behind redemption is the marketplace and the freeing of a captive: a price paid to release someone who was in bondage. In the Bible, humanity is described as enslaved to sin, unable to free itself. Redemption is God buying us back and setting us at liberty.
What makes it stunning is the price. We were not redeemed with money but with the life of Christ. God valued us enough to pay in blood, so that we could be released from guilt and the power of sin and belong to Him instead.

Redemption and Jesus
Jesus is the Redeemer. He stepped into the marketplace of our slavery and paid the ransom with His own life, so that everyone held captive by sin could walk out free. You were bought at great cost because you were counted worth it.
