What Romans 3:23 means
Paul levels every human being onto the same ground: all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It is not a verse of despair but of honesty, and honesty is where grace can finally reach us. No one is too good to need the cross, and no one is too far gone to be offered it, because the whole world stands in the same need and is met by the same mercy.
