Revelation Chapter 1, Explained
Revelation 1 opens the Bible's final book as a revelation of Jesus Christ, given to the apostle John. It pronounces a blessing on all who read and keep its words, and it introduces God as the one who is, and was, and is to come, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
Then John sees the risen Jesus in overwhelming glory, walking among golden lampstands that represent the churches, His face like the sun and His voice like many waters. John falls at His feet as though dead, and Jesus lays His right hand on him with words of comfort: fear not, I am the first and the last, the living one who was dead and is now alive forevermore, holding the keys of death itself.
