What Psalm 42:11 means
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God. The psalmist does something wise with his own sadness: he speaks to his soul rather than only listening to it. When feelings pull downward, he preaches hope back to himself, reminding his heart that God is still worth praising and still his God.
