From Striving to Rest
Striving → exhaustion → "Come to me" → rest for your soul
If you are worn thin from trying to earn your worth, your rest, your place, the Bible offers something the striving cannot: a rest that is received, not achieved.
Walk the path
He gives his beloved sleep
Psalm 127:2“It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”
It is vain to rise up early and sit up late eating the bread of sorrows, for he giveth his beloved sleep. Endless striving cannot secure what God gives freely.
My presence will give you rest
Exodus 33:14“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. Rest is tied to Presence, not only to doing less.
Come to me, all who labor
Matthew 11:28“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Rest for your souls
Matthew 11:29“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Following Jesus is learning from a gentle teacher, not earning a hard master's approval.
A rest remains
Hebrews 4:9“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God: a ceasing from the exhausting project of earning your own worth. You are already loved.
Where the path arrives: Jesus
The deepest tiredness is not in the body but in the soul that is still trying to prove it is enough. Jesus meets exactly that exhaustion. He does not say, try harder, or, earn a little more first. He says, come to me, and I will give you rest. The rest He offers is not merely a day off; it is the end of the frantic project of justifying yourself, because He has done it for you. You can stop striving to be worthy of love. In Christ, the verdict is already in, and it is grace.
