Mark Chapter 16, Explained
Mark 16 records the resurrection with Mark's usual speed and wonder. Very early on the first day of the week, the women come with spices to anoint Jesus' body, worrying about who will roll away the heavy stone. They find it already rolled back, and a young man in white tells them the news: Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified, is risen and is not here.
They are sent to tell the disciples that He is going ahead of them, and the chapter records His commission to preach the good news to all creation. What began at an empty tomb becomes a message meant to reach the whole world, carried by ordinary, frightened people who saw the risen Lord.
