John Chapter 3, Explained
John 3 records a night visit from Nicodemus, a respected teacher who comes to Jesus with questions. Jesus tells him something startling: unless a person is born again, born of the Spirit, they cannot see the kingdom of God. Being religious is not enough. We need a new life that only God can give from above.
To explain it, Jesus points back to a strange story where Moses lifted up a bronze serpent in the wilderness so that those who looked at it lived. In the same way, He says, the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that whoever believes in Him has eternal life.
Then comes the most famous verse in the Bible: for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God's motive is love, His gift is His Son, and the way in is simple trust.

How John 3 points to Jesus
Jesus is the Son lifted up like the serpent in the wilderness, so that all who look to Him in faith are healed and saved. He is God's gift of love, and being born again means receiving new life through Him.
