John Chapter 15, Explained
John 15 gives one of Jesus' richest pictures of the Christian life: I am the vine, you are the branches. A branch bears no fruit on its own; it must stay connected to the vine. In the same way, real fruit in our lives does not come from trying harder in our own strength but from abiding in Jesus, drawing life from Him.
From that union flows everything else. Jesus calls us to remain in His love, to keep His commandments, and to love one another as He has loved us. And He defines that love at its height: greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. He no longer calls His disciples servants, but friends.
