If you have ever quietly wondered, God, if you are there, you are not alone, and you are not unwelcome. That whisper is already a kind of seeking, and Christians believe it does not go unheard. You can wonder here privately, with nothing asked of you. God, the Scriptures say, is near even to those who are only beginning to look for him.

The quiet question is welcome

Almost everyone, at some point, has half-whispered the question: are you there? It can feel foolish to say, or too fragile to say aloud. But it is one of the most honest things a person can ask, and it is welcome here. You do not have to be sure God exists to wonder about him.

Christians believe God is not hiding from the honest seeker. The Scriptures picture a God who is near, who searches us out with kindness, and who can be found by those who look for him.
