Purpose & Meaning

Does God Care About Small Things?

Yes. God cares about the small things, the details you assume are beneath his notice. Jesus said even the hairs of your head are numbered and no sparrow falls without the Father knowing. Nothing about your life is too small, too ordinary, or too unimportant for God to care about. His attention is not reserved for the big moments.

If you feel like your worries are too small to pray about

Many people hesitate to bring God the small stuff, the minor worries, the daily decisions, the quiet troubles, assuming he must be busy with wars and disasters and has no attention to spare for something so trivial. But the picture Jesus gives of God is not a distant manager. It is a Father who notices the smallest sparrow.

The God who counts hairs and notices sparrows

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
Luke 12:6-7
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
1 Peter 5:7

This is one of the tenderest truths in the Bible. The God who holds galaxies also counts hairs. Nothing in your life is filed under ‘too small to matter.’ He does not despise small things; in fact he often works through them.

“For who hath despised the day of small things?”
Zechariah 4:10

So bring him the small things. The size of a worry is no measure of whether he cares about it. He cares about it because he cares about you.

One small step
bring God one small thing today that you would normally think is too minor to pray about, and simply hand it to him. Nothing is beneath his care.
A short prayer, if you want one
“Father, thank you that no part of my life is too small for you. Here is the little thing I have been carrying. I give it to you. Amen.”

Frequently asked questions

Does God care about the small things in my life?
Yes. Jesus said the very hairs of your head are numbered and not one sparrow is forgotten before God (Luke 12:6-7). Nothing in your life is too small for his care. You are told to cast all your care on him (1 Peter 5:7).
Are my small worries worth praying about?

Does God work through small things?
Often, yes. Zechariah 4:10 asks, who has despised the day of small things? Scripture repeatedly shows God doing great good through small, ordinary, overlooked acts and people.

You do not have to figure it out alone

The oldest Christian answer to the ache for meaning is not a formula but a Person. Jesus said he came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. You are welcome to come and see for yourself, with no pressure and nothing to prove. Read a little of his own words, or simply sit with the quiet. If it helps, a real community near you would be glad to walk with you.
