When disaster strikes, help arrives, and much of it is Christian. Reach FEMA and the Red Cross for immediate needs, then know that organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse, Convoy of Hope, and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief mobilize volunteers to muck out homes, feed families, and rebuild, usually at no cost to survivors.

Right after a disaster
- Apply for federal help at DisasterAssistance.gov or call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.
- Find shelter and immediate aid through the American Red Cross (1-800-RED-CROSS).
- Dial 211 (or visit 211.org) to reach a free, confidential local referral line for food, housing, and more, in most of the United States and Canada.

- Samaritan’s Purse. A Christian relief organization that deploys volunteers and supplies after disasters at home and abroad, helping survivors clean up and rebuild.
- Convoy of Hope. A faith-based group that responds to disasters with food, water, and supplies through a national network.
- Send Relief (Southern Baptist Disaster Relief). One of the largest volunteer disaster-response networks in the country, providing meals, cleanup, and rebuilding after storms and floods.
- The Salvation Army. Provides emergency food, shelter, and emotional and spiritual care at disaster sites nationwide.
- Catholic Charities and Mennonite Disaster Service. Respond to disasters with relief, long-term recovery, and volunteer rebuilding for affected communities.
