What is Shrove Tuesday?
Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent begins, a last day to feast and to be shriven, that is, to examine the heart and seek forgiveness before the fast. The word shrove comes from an old word for confession, so beneath the pancakes and celebration is a quiet call to get right with God.
