The Bible prizes loyalty and faithfulness, in friendship, family, and above all toward God. It praises the friend who loves at all times and sticks closer than a brother, and it points to God's own steadfast, covenant loyalty toward us. Faithfulness that endures hardship and does not abandon is one of the marks of godly love.
