Who was Saint Christopher?
Saint Christopher is remembered as a giant of a man who carried travelers across a dangerous river. In the best-loved story he once carried a child who grew heavier and heavier, and who revealed himself as Christ carrying the weight of the whole world; the name Christopher means Christ-bearer.
Why the patron of travelers?
Because of that legend of carrying the Christ child safely across the water, he became the patron of travelers and all who journey, and his medal is still carried by many on the road.
