Instead they found the stone moved, the tomb empty, and two figures in dazzling clothes. And the first thing said to them is not an explanation but a question, almost tender in its surprise: 'Why seek ye the living among the dead?'

It is a gentle rebuke of a very human instinct. They came looking for Jesus in a tomb, which is exactly where you look for the dead, and exactly the wrong place to look for him now.
