Coming home
Is it too late for me to come back to God?
It is not too late. It is never too late. However far you have wandered, however long it has been, God is not waiting to punish you. He is watching the road for you.
“And when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.”
Luke 15:20
“Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:43
The father runs
In the story Jesus told, the son who had wasted everything came home expecting to be a servant. Instead his father ran to him and threw a feast. That is the heart of God toward you. You do not have to fix yourself first. You only have to turn toward home.
Turning back is called repentance, and it is not a punishment; it is coming home. Here is what that looks like, gently. Or simply ask someone to walk with you.
