Following Jesus Every Day

Jesus spoke of following him not once but “daily.” The Christian life is less a single leap and more a long walk taken one morning at a time. Following him every day does not mean flawless days; it means turning toward him again each morning, letting his grace meet you in the small and unspectacular hours, at work, at home, in traffic, with the people right in front of you.

The word “daily” is a mercy. It means today’s failure does not disqualify tomorrow. Each morning is a fresh place to say yes. Following is renewed, not spent.

What this looks like

Most of following Jesus happens where no one is watching. It looks like a few minutes with his word before the day rushes in. A short prayer under your breath. Choosing patience with a difficult person, honesty when a lie would be easier, generosity when you could keep it all. It looks like doing your ordinary work as though for him, and letting him carry the worry you cannot.

None of these are boxes to tick for approval. They are simply what love looks like when it walks through a Tuesday. And on the days you forget him entirely, his grace is already waiting when you turn back. That returning is the daily following.
