Celebrations around the world
Las Posadas
Mexico and Central America · December 16 to 24
Las Posadas, the inns, reenacts Mary and Joseph searching for a place to stay before the birth of Jesus. Over nine nights it carries the wonder that the Saviour of the world was born with no room, welcomed at last by the humble.
How it is celebrated
Each evening a procession goes house to house singing the request for lodging, is turned away, and is finally welcomed in for prayer, food, and a star-shaped pinata.
In the Word
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.Luke 2:7 (KJV)
One family, in every land
Across the world the church keeps this feast in a thousand ways, but it is one Lord all of it honors. Wherever you are, pray, read the Word, and gather with the family of God on The Living Bread. Free, with no ads, for all people.
