Everyone knows thirst. Scripture follows water from a river in Eden to a spring Jesus offers a stranger at a well, and finally to a river running clear through the city of God, free to anyone who is thirsty.

A river out of Eden
Genesis 2:10“And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.”
A river waters the garden and flows out to the world. From the first pages, life and God's presence are pictured as water given freely.

Exodus 17:6“Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.”
In the desert God tells Moses to strike a rock, and water pours out for the people. Paul says that Rock was Christ, struck for us.

Psalm 42:1“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”
The psalmist's thirst becomes a picture of the soul longing for God. The ache itself is honest, and it is aimed somewhere.

Ezekiel sees a river flow from God's house, and everything it touches lives. Where God dwells, dead places come alive.

Jesus tells a Samaritan woman at a well that He gives water becoming a spring inside a person, welling up to everlasting life.

Thirst is one of the most honest things about us, and the Bible never shames it. It follows the thirsty from a desert rock to a woman at a well to a whole city drinking from the throne, and at the center stands Jesus saying, come to me and drink. On the cross the water flows from His own side. The thread's whole point is that the longing you feel is not a defect to be managed but a door He made, and He is the spring that does not run dry. The last word of Scripture is not a command but an offer: whosoever will, come, and take the water of life freely.
If you are tired of being thirsty, of drinking things that never quite satisfy, the invitation is simply to come. Not to qualify, not to earn it, only to come and drink. Begin with Jesus here, or let someone pray with you, and taste what does not run out.
