What 1 John 5:14 Means
1 John 5:14
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”1 John 5:14 (KJV)
What 1 John 5:14 means
This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. Prayer is offered with confidence, not because we always get the exact answer we name, but because we are heard by a good Father. Praying according to his will means trusting that his answer, whatever it is, will be better than our request.

1 John 5:14 in context
13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
